Product: Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
Rating: Nicolas Cage, The Blunt
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a beauty product whore: I will try it all and I am easily tempted by the allure of something new and different. So while I was getting my brows done at a Benefit Brow Bar, my eyes strayed to They’re Real! Mascara offering – highly touted as a best seller. I asked the girl and she raved about it (read cues, JoJo: she’s paid by Benefit) so after happily paying for my new brows, I splurged on this mascara too.
Now, this product is VERY highly rated on many websites and actually is a best seller, which leads to my review here.
So this mascara actually has different instructions than just your ol’ swipe on the lashes and go:
1. Swipe a layer on TOP of your lashes – this can be tricky if you curl them too so beware of wiping black goo onto your eye lid (not that I did that or anything…)
2. Swipe a layer as per usual on the underside of the lashes.
3. Using the tip, go through each individual lash to lift and separate. BE SO FREAKING CAREFUL – I jabbed myself in the eye which a) hurts and b) means you now have mascara all over your lid and under your lower lash line.
This mascara is good, I will admit that. It’s a little thinner coverage than Dior’s Black Out but it does lift and separate when you use the top of the wand. That being said, I’m Nick Caging this bad boy because the massive hype of it just doesn’t have the follow through. I find it comparable to Maybelline Great Lash Mascara which is $7.00 and provides almost the same boost.
That being said Snoop Dogg wants you to pass the blunt, Nicolas Cage is a terrible actor and I’d recommend you find another lash friend over this frenemy!
